Corrosion Prevention and Control

With 215,000 combined square feet of workspace for blast, plating, structural repair, and painting in the world-class facilities, the highly trained and motivated TYAD workforce is certified by Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) in SP-7 Blast and SP-12 Paint and can accommodate several differing workloads at one time. The depot is equipped with numerous corrosion prevention and control (CPC) capabilities to meet varying customer requirements. The TYAD Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified C4ISR Finishing Center features multiple glove boxes, blast booths and paint booths up to 30’x30’x60’ in size with drive-through doors, telescoping manlifts and overhead bridge cranes. These facilities rival automotive paint booths and can service items ranging in size from tactical trailers to High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) to Naval Missile Launchers. These facilities, constructed as the latest Military Construction project at TYAD, have enhanced the level of refurbishment support TYAD provides to customers globally.

In order to accommodate the diverse needs of the expansive listing of customers, the capabilities of the TYAD finishing operations requires diversity to meet those complex customer requirements. No matter what service the depot provides, the options for getting a job done are vast. The plating operations include nickel, copper, tin, cadmium, passivate, black oxide, anodize, chromate, and zinc and we also have the ability to work with epoxy, enamel, urethane, and chemical agent resistant coating (CARC) top coatings. In addition, the depot is also prepared to support ultrasonic cleaning, chemical paint stripping, solvent cleaning, power wash and baking soda blast washing work as well both in our facilities and on-site around the world with globally deployable CPC teams to support fixed site assets as well as forward fleets of equipment. TYAD can employ teams to inspect equipment forward, evaluate mechanical and electrical requirements for equipment, procure the required material and then travel to conduct CPC and mobile depot maintenance at the point of need.
