Integrated Logistics Capabilities
Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD) employs over 3,500 government civilian and contractor personnel performing 120 different job classifications to include electronics technicians, engineers, quality and process improvements specialists, logisticians, production controllers, analysts, industrial tradesman and integrated systems mechanics. This range of specialty fields, coupled with an assortment of specialized facilities is available to support the DoDs missions through an extraordinarily diverse portfolio of over 3,400 unique Work Breakdown Structures annually. As such, it is imperative that TYAD plan and execute each project with premier logistics support functionality.
TYAD utilizes the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) enterprise SAP solution for the US Army. The LMP is a robust SAP product which provides Enterprise Resource Planning, Material Requirements Planning and Master Production Scheduling capabilities. LMP provides fully integrated supply chain, maintenance, repair, overhaul, planning, reporting and execution solutions. TYAD had been selected as the pilot Depot for implementing this SAP software product into an organic facility which began in 2003. TYAD was instrumental in providing training, mentoring, and shadowing to other depots and arsenals prior to subsequent releases to their locations. TYAD personnel have been proactive in furthering the education of personnel through independent training; both certification and non-certification level. TYAD employs over 33 personnel who have obtained certification in American Production of Inventory Control Society (APICS) Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and over 45 personnel who received their Project Management Principles (PMP) certification. TYAD benchmarked several companies to incorporate SAP best business practices in both fabrication, overhaul and repair. TYAD possesses unmatched subject matter expertise due to LMP utilization for over 20 years and continues to be the flagship organization for logistics services.
TYAD specific growth areas for logistics can be summarized through the Level One team support provided to customers requiring complex, specialized, and focused support for logistics functions that support Program Offices from product concept to fielding through warranty exchange to formal sustainment requirements.
