Satellite Communications (SATCOM)

In the over 70 years Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD) has been servicing the nation as a Communications Electronics depot, 55 of those years has been focused on building and expanding satellite communication (SATCOM) experience that includes an 18-acre satellite campus which includes two separate satellite testing laboratories, the Wideband Integration Center (WIC) lab and Prototype, Integration, Test and Training Lab (PITT). TYAD has eighteen test pads that have access through line-of-sight with the commercial and military constellations. TYAD provides services for the Department of Defense interservice SATCOM community through providing support to the United States Army, United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force and United States Space Force.

 

TYAD has the skill set, facility, capabilities and a work force that provides overhaul, repair, alignment, modification, test system/site integration, and technical field support to include worldwide installation and de-installation of tactical and strategic military satellite terminals in fixed and mobile configurations. The foundation of this capability is through the TYAD fully integrated SATCOM multi-skilled engineering, technical assistance repair teams, and technicians who provide engineering design, interoperability testing, configuration management, network system integration, and technical support for various SATCOM network systems and equipment for the Warfighter. TYAD conducts complete engineering designs and specification development for the installation and testing of SATCOM sites through Interoperability testing, simulation, and evaluation. TYAD can also conduct and support orientation and technical training of digital communications satellite sub-system and associated SATCOM systems/equipment.
