Child and/or spouse abuse is a crime. Following, is a list of questions and answers to help you identify and report any type of abuse.

What is abuse? Abuse is a form of power and control. Abuse can manifest itself in many ways, such as physical abuse (bruises, cuts), emotional abuse (name-calling, put-downs), neglect (lack of care/nutrition), and sexual abuse (rape, sexual harassment).

If I witness abuse, whom shall I tell? The Report Point of Contact at Tobyhanna is Security. Security can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (570) 615-7550. You may also contact the FAP Manager at (570) 972-6927.

If I choose to give my name when reporting abuse, how involved will I be? Security and the FAP Manager will contact you to gather information regarding the incident that you reported.

What happens once abuse is reported? Security supplies any information to the FAP Manager. The FAP Manager coordinates clinical assessments with local service providers, for all parties involved in the allegation of abuse. Once information has been gathered, the Case Review Committee (CRC) meets to make a determination and, if necessary, to provide referrals for treatment.

What services are available for individuals being abused? The FAP Manager can put individuals and families in touch with community agencies that provide services, such as counseling or a shelter, to those in need.
