(This link opens in a new browser window.)

The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is designed to provide support to military family members with special needs. EFMP works in concert with other military and civilian agencies and is designed to provide a comprehensive, coordinated, multi-agency approach for medical, educational, community support, housing and personnel services.

Services include:
  • Provide information about EFMP resources and services/rights and responsibilities and assist in developing solutions to individual and community EFMP issues and problems.
  • Briefings and education/training sessions to locate family members with special needs, emphasize benefits and availability of resources and services and dispel myths about enrollment affecting military career.
  • Advocacy with individuals, military and civilian agencies to ensure family members are receiving services and accommodations.
  • Identify and coordinate soldier's EFM housing and community support needs.
  • Offers support groups.
  • Provides respite care through Child Development Services.
  • Offers recreational and cultural programs for family members with disabilities.
  • Provides directories and handbooks and other resources.
  • Establishes the Special Needs Accommodation process Team to explore childcare and youth options for children with special needs in installation child and youth programs.
