AER provides emergency financial assistance to relieve the distress of Army personnel, retirees, and their families, and to provide financial assistance to needy spouses and orphans of deceased Army members.

Financial assistance is available through either a no interest loan or a grant. Eligibility includes active duty service members; Army National Guard and Reserve on active duty more than 30 days; Army members retired after 20 years or retired by disability; and their dependents. Members of the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard can apply for emergency relief funds through the installation AER.

Application Forms: AER Form 600, AER Form 700, AER Form 800 and AER Form 57-R.

AER conducts an annual campaign to raise funds to continue to provide financial assistance, to raise awareness of AER, and to emphasize that the "Army Takes Care of Its Own."
