Operation Santa Claus - The committee provides clothing, materials, toys, etc. to many local agencies throughout the year, especially during the holiday season. Through these resources the Operation Santa Claus Committee is able to provide needed  toys, food, clothing and many other items to local agencies. The funds collected also help us to entertain many of these groups at the three parties being held at the depot each year. The parties serve to provide those less fortunate with a little Christmas cheer they may not otherwise have received.

One of the events that we host to benefit Operation Santa Claus is the Annual Motorcycle Poker Run. This event starts at Harley Davidson in Scranton Pennsylvania where registration begins. From there participants stop at various locations until they reach the ending location at Tobyhanna Army Depot. They enjoy a BBQ, music and know their donations are benefitting a great cause.

Also, throughout the year Operation Santa Claus sells Gertrude Hawk chocolates and home-made Roasted Nuts, with all sales going towards Operation Santa Claus.

Red Friday - In 2007 while looking for new ways to fundraise, we were touched by an email we received about a fallen Soldier. It contained the idea to wear red on Fridays to show support for our warfighters. Operation Santa Claus designed a t-shirt and we started selling them in March 2007. The committee made a commitment for every t-shirt we sold we would give two dollars to the Fisher House at Walter Reed Memorial Hospital and out local Military community. To date, sales have reached over $100,000 and we’ve given $30,000 to Walter Reed.

If you are interested in buying a Red Friday shirt or other Red Friday merchandise, please visit the One Stop Shop in Building 11 or contact them at (570) 615-8851. You may also contact Community Services directly at (570) 615-7150.
